In 2013, Wii Sports was remade in HD as Wii Sports Club on the Wii U however, this remake was eShop exclusive, and was free to download but required players to rent sports for a small fee in order to play them. Including 10 new sports (swordplay, wakeboarding, frisbee, archery, basketball, table tennis, air sports, power cruising, canoeing and cycling) alongside retaining bowling and golf from its predecessor, Wii Sports Resort enjoyed similar success to its predecessor, going on to sell around 32 million copies, and ranks third in best selling Wii games, behind the original Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii. This sequel also served as the debut for the Wii MotionPlus add-on for the Wii Remote. It later received a sequel, Wii Sports Resort, released in 2009. Due to its accessibility and the fact that it was bundled as a pack-in game with every Wii until 2011, Wii Sports went on to become the best-selling video game for a single console of all time, beating the previous record holder Super Mario Bros. In addition to this, the game has also seen use as a method of physical therapy for those recovering from strokes and injuries. As the gameplay was very simple to get into and players became active while playing, Wii Sports became fairly popular in places that video games would not normally be seen, most notably hospitals and nursing homes. Players used Miis that they created on the Wii's Mii Channel in these games, and each individual Mii kept their own records as save data. It consisted of five sports games (tennis, bowling, boxing, golf, and baseball).
